Updates from the Moving Maven

Well friends... it's been almost 2 weeks since my last post. What can I say? Life has been busy, busy, busy! I got a new apartment in the Water... Clearwater, Florida that is. Have been moving my stuff out of my Dad's (weekend before last) and for the past week been moving out of storage (very slowly). Finished up the last of the moving Sunday evening (um, just last night). I'm exhausted! Now it's all about unpacking, organizing and cleaning once again. The boxes are stacked so high I can't walk into my living room at this point. I have my work cut out for me! I guess you could call me the Moving Maven!

Pluses and ups of the new apartment:
  • Tile throughout, except the bedroom
  • Huge walk-in closet, linen closet and pantry
  • Glass-top self-cleaning oven
  • Open kitchen
  • Free AC filters each month
  • Dog walk area right outside my door, plus a little dog park on the property
  • One building away from pool and laundry areas
  • Less than 10 minute drive from the office
  • Central Pinellas County location (can get to Tampa, St. Pete or Clearwater Beach in 20-30 minutes)
Now for the bad things...
  • Upper kitchen cabinets are really dirty on the inside and made from nasty toxic fiberboard (lower cabinets are not) so there's a lack of storage in the kitchen. I'm not about to put clean dishes or food in those cabinets! Don't know what to do or if they can be "fixed". Maintenance already came out and apparently sprayed the insides with bleach, but it hasn't done anything to the smell. Even if they were lined they would still give off toxic fumes. It's just not a sanitary place to keep stuff I plan on putting near my face. Very disheartening considering mostly everything else is awesome!
  • Hot and cold are switched on the kitchen sink so I repeatedly burn myself. Ugh.
  • Parking is not great, at all. They're working on getting assigned parking, but for now it's a free for all and can be limiting.
  • There's only one way in and one way out of the complex. It's like a big circle with one way drive all the way around.

My healthy habits have been seriously lacking. I can't wait to get back into my healthy routine. Feel like I've gained a few inches here and there due to all that's been going on in the past month or so. I'm still kind of eating like I'm on vacation... living on Starbucks and take out due to not having my kitchen supplies (until now). I'm in a 60-Day Challenge and really feel like I should start over. Once I clear some space to exercise I'm planning on doing a 4 to 7 day boot camp with Tempo 2. Should make my back feel better too. I had to get a chiropractic adjustment last Monday and it really took a lot out of me. I went 5 months without an adjustment! I need to get back on track, for real.

My blog has a new look! Blogger just launched a new template designer and I absolutely LOVE it. So easy to use... and cute!

I've taken so many photos! Over 800 images in little less than a month. At this point I'm thinking it would be overkill to go back and do my daily posts for the blog. Seriously, you'd be reading for days. However, I will be posting a vacation recap of the road trip. Oh, I almost forgot... I took a vacation from my vacation two weekends ago. We got a room at a dog-friendly bed and breakfast on Madeira Beach. It was so relaxing and literally a 30 second walk from the beach itself. I got lots of sun and almost have my bronze back.

Will be doing a daily recap of today's eats this evening... stay tuned.

Au revoir!

Road Trip!!!

2010

The reason for the interruption in blogs is... a Road Trip!

We left Tampa Bay on Saturday the 22nd with a final destination of Austin, Texas. Made it to Austin yesterday a settled in to our hotel (right in the middle of all the action).

I haven't found the time to blog, obviously. Been driving a lot and soaking up the time I have at our few stops along the way. Have lots of great photos to share!

Here's a quick list of my plans for Austin...
  • Eat Texas BBQ!
  • Visit the original Whole Foods
  • Experience the music scene on 6th Street
  • Relax and get some sun at Barton Springs
  • Visit the Austin Museum of Art
  • Shopping! Can't forget to do a little of that on vacation.
  • Concert at the Mohawk on Saturday... Chaos in Tejas with Ume

I will post later to catch you up on my adventures so far, but for now I must seize the day.

Au revoir!

Time Lapse: End of April

WARNING: This post is PART 1 of an incredibly long recap
of the past two weeks and what's to come!

{ PART 2 }

I promise I'm trying ("Do or do not. There is no try.") to get back into my blog routine! After such a long hiatus it feels a bit off because there's now a HUGE gap in my posts. I do have some pretty pictures to share and will dedicate this post to that missing time period.

Have to say that pretty much all my healthy habits have gone out the window. I did do Primary Back Stretch and Hoe Downs a few times over the past few weeks, but no real workouts other than moving boxes and going up and down stairs. I've been exhausted to say the least. By the end of the day I have not had enough energy to make myself workout. I just crash. I'm in desperate need of quality sleep deep hibernation for about 24 hours straight in the dark and silent cold. Although I didn't get a chance to blog, workout or keep up with other healthy habits, I have (for the most part) taken photos of my eats.

And Now For The Recap...

I spent every waking moment when home during the last of April getting ready for the move. Not a whole lot going on otherwise.

{ weekend }

On Friday, April 30th we drove up to Tallahassee, Florida for Sami's (my step-sister) graduation from FSU. The last time I was up there was for Abbie's (my little sister) graduation in 2004. Tallahassee is fun and lively, like any classic college town USA. The weekend was filled with plenty of college-style partying (aka beer drinking and pizza eating).

April 30th - on the road!
Breakfast: rest of that Purple Monster from the night before and Boiled Egg with BVI Seasoning
Snack: String Cheese and Multi-grain Pita Chips
Latte: Iced Grande Nonfat Vanilla Latte while syncing my iPod for the road
Dinner: 1/2 Lenny's Turkey Sub (shared with Marcel), a few chips and sips of root beer soda (gasp!)
Dessert: Chocolate Chip Cookie
Snack: V8
Drinks: several Yuenglings (Real American Beer!)

Here's Sami...

She let us crash at her place. Thanks chica!

We went out to Bullwinkles and saw this band play.

Then back to Sami's place. She graduated on Saturday morning and we all enjoyed a big family dinner out that evening at Andrew's 228. More on my college town weekend tomorrow!

I'm off to finish today's post...

Au revoir!

P.S. I am kind of in shock that it's May 11th already. These past two weeks have flown by!

Lattes for the Road

Food Log

Lattes for the road...

So we left Atlanta and drove past the only Starbucks for hours thinking that there would be another one coming up soon. No luck until we got to Tilton, Georgia. It was like caffeine relief! Then we started coming up with all kinds of creative ideas for future road trips and stuff we want to do together.

Starbucks Venti Nonfat Vanilla Latte with Whipped Cream.

And then we stopped in Gainesville, Florida and picked up another latte.

Starbucks Grande Nonfat Vanilla Latte.

Finally a Valentine's cup!

Oh yeah, and we ate lunch with Veronica, Zach and Cayden before heading out...

Silly boy!

Lunch

Zaxby's 1/2 Grilled Chicken Caesar Salad and a 1/2 Grilled Cheese, plus a few fries and a sweet tea.

Dinner

Wendy's Grilled Chicken Wrap.

I know, I know... I resolved never to eat fast food in 2010, but sometimes when traveling it's the easiest and fastest option. At least I opted for grilled everything.

The ride home was great until we were about 30 miles from Tampa. Then people started driving like maniacs. The truck in front of us literally threw several beer cans on the driver side window. The first can almost hit my car! I can not believe people.

Minutes later we were almost pushed off the road by a U-haul truck. And several times during the course of the drive semi trucks kept getting into our lane, almost like they didn't even see us.

Thank goodness we made it home safely!!!

Supplements

Alfalfa: 3 caps
nutraMetrix® Isotonix® Calcium Complete: 1 serving

Last Night's Wii Party

Last night we had a Wii party. Some of Veronica's friends and their daughters came over to hang out. First the girls played Wii Bowling. And guess what... I got 8 strikes in a row!!! That's a high record for me.

Then the guys played Wii Bowling. Cayden, who is 5 years old, smeard the other guys by 35+ points. Amazing!!!

Unfortunately I skipped lunch because we never made it out of the house. Party due to waiting for the guys to get back from running an errand and party because of other plans falling through. We didn't want to eat and then have them come home only for us to leave to go out to eat, so we didn't eat at all. They were supposed to take maybe 2 hours, but ended up being gone for almost 6 hours. We did have plans to go to an arcade and meet some of their friends, but that never happened either.

Snack

Ate a few whole wheat crackers dipped in chocolate peanut butter. Sorry no photo.

And had some Snapea Crisps.

Dinner

The guys brought home a white pizza. I ate 2 slices like this one:

X2

Later I ate some of the tabbouleh.

Dessert

Slice of Carvel Ice Cream Cake.

Lazy Days of Vacation

It's my last full day of vacation and I'm lazing it up. Tomorrow we're driving out of this winter wonderland back to Tampa.

This morning I slept until 8, took the dogs out, then back to sleep until 10. We played a little Wii and then went out into the snow again. It's starting to melt and get slushy on the sidewalk, but still powdery on the lawn.

Food Log

Brekkie

Scrambled Eggs, Bacon and Spinach.

Roxy's mouth was watering over the eggs.

Coffee and Sugar.

Snack

Organic Baby Gala Apple.

She ate a little apple too. Love them!

And a piece of chocolate too...

We're heading out of the house to do something fun around town and eat some lunch. Going to hunt for firewood so we can roast marshmallows and make s'mores tonight! YUM.

It's Snowing!

My dream came true today! It's snowing in Georgia and I am so excited. This is probably the first "real" snow I have experienced from when it started falling from the sky to when it has settled on the ground. Beautiful!

We spent most of the day inside and playing in the snow, but got out to run a few errands. Unfortunately, no firewood in the house. Maybe tomorrow. I would love a dark chocolate s'more right now!

Oh, and Roxy loves the snow! She was running around trying to eat the falling snow flakes. Adorable!

My car before and after the snow:

Brekkie

Baby Organic Gala Apple + Banana Nut Muffin.

Latte

A PERFECT Starbucks Grande Nonfat Vanilla Latte.

There was a slightly longer wait at the drive-thru. It was really nice to get that coupon without even saying anything. The barista was like: Here's a free coupon for a drink of your choice since there was such a long wait. If you want you can order a venti 12-shot with syrup and whipped cream.

Sweet!

Lunch

Bacon, Egg and Cheese Biscuit.

And I just had to add some fresh spinach before eating it...

Dinner

Pan Fried Catfish, Steamed Broccoli and Carrots, a Tabbouleh of sorts.

Road Trip to Atlanta!!!

I had no time to finish this post yesterday. Sorry! Too busy finishing packing (after working a full day) for our weekend trip to Atlanta! We are celebrating our 5 year anniversary on the 11th. Visiting with Marcel's family in Atlanta this week. I am so excited to take a road trip and get out of Florida for a bit... even though it's so much colder there!

Wednesday, February 10th

Today's Workout

T-Tapp MORE + body brushing.

Today's Food Log

Brekkie

2 Scrambled Eggs and Organic Romaine.

Then a few hours later after my TMJ dentist and chiropractic appointments...

Everything Bagel with Garden Veggie Cream Cheese and a Small Coffee with Cream/Sugar.

I was literally so hungry after that egg breakfast. Guess I needed some carbs.

Lunch

1/2 can of Progresso Clam Chowder and Everything Bagel with Butter.

Einsteins messed up my bagel order so I got this one free! However, my tummy hurt after eating it, so it really wasn't worth it.

Roxy in her "house" in the back seat of my Mazda.
Ready to go!

Snack

Baby Organic Gala Apple.

Dinner

We stopped at Lenny's Sub Shop on our way out of town. Marcel came back to the car with this HUGE sub, which they call a "large". It's practically the size of 2 foot longs!

I ate 1/2 Turkey Sub on Whole Wheat and some Salt and Vinegar Chips.

On the Ride Up

I snacked on some Organic Baby Carrots, and shared a White Chocolate Macadamia Nut cookie and another piece of the sub with Marcel.

Overall WAY too many carbs today! My body is not happy about that. Need more fruits and veggies.

nutraMetrix® Isotonix® Calcium Complete: 1 serving
