Happy Earth Day!

In honor of Earth Day I've been working on getting some "green bags" with the T-Tapp logo. We received a purple sample that matches the website and I just love it. They are very handy and hold about three plastic grocery bags worth of items, plus easier to carry, look stylishly "eco-chic", don't fall over in the car and last a lifetime. I see "green bags" everywhere now... all grocery stores, even Target. So glad that people are starting to become aware of the dangers of plastic bags. We all need a little "plastic bag rehab"!

Here's my cheesy Photoshop version...

They're going to be SUPER cute!

Here are some facts about plastic...
  • A Plastic bag takes 450 years to biodegrade. Imagine 10 billion of them!
  • The production of Paper bags causes 70% more pollution than Plastic.
  • When Plastic “photo degrades” it ends up in our oceans. Incidentally, it appears much like a plankton, and is then consumed by fish. Fish eat it, and it winds up on your dinner table. YUCK!!!
  • The recipe for making paper bags starts with 1 part pulp, 400 parts WATER. What a waste of water!
  • The recycling of plastic emits heavy metals into the air causing extreme air pollution
  • An average person will use over 350 bags in a single year!
  • In New York City, one less grocery bag per person would reduce waste by five million pounds and save $250,000 in disposal costs!
  • In 1999 more than 14 million trees were cut down to produce 10 billion paper bags that were used by Americans that year!

Benefits of reusable bags:
  • Reusable bags save trees
  • Reusable bags save water
  • Reusable bags save gas and oil
  • Reusable bags help air pollution
  • Reusable bags help our oceans
  • Reusable bags help our sea creatures
  • Reusable bags save 700+ bags over the span of their lifetime!
  • Reusable bags help our families!

I found a neat Earth Day Map that Google is doing this year. Check out what other people are doing for Earth Day on Google's 2008 Earth Day Map.

Casey-

Love the idea of some T-Tapp reusable grocery/tote
bags! Would be a great way to spread awareness
of the workout, too! Think we might see something in the T-Tapp webstore?

Hi Gemma! I'm excited about these too. We are planning on doing some type of promotion with the bags initially, but they should also be available for sale on our site as well.
