Friday Fun with Friends

Hope you had a Happy World Vegetarian Day!  I've been eating more and more vegetarian these days... without really trying.  Actually, did eat 100% Veggie today too.  I have to admit that I'm totally addicted to green smoothies.  They get 2 servings of veggies in my system first thing in the morning. Power punch of natural nutrients from whole foods.  Yum!  I made Abbie (my sister) her first ever green smoothie today. She loved it!

Friday night Abbie and I met up with a bunch of our friends in St. Pete for a rock show at State Theater.  4 bands played and I knew 3 of them.  Good times!  Since we ended up going to bed just before 5am, I didn't get to post my blog last night.

My Car Woes... please continue to scroll for Friday's eats.
It was our THIRD trip to St. Pete for the day... dropped my car off at the Mazda dealership to get the 5th gear in my manual transmission evaluated.  It keeps popping out of 5th gear as I'm driving... and I really NEED my 5th gear!  At the end of the day I paid $99 for a transmission diagnostic, a car wash and to be told that I need an entirely new rebuilt transmission installed for $3,500, including labor! *Gasp!* followed by tears streaming down my face.  If only I had a warranty!  (Or won the lottery.)  So I'm trying to figure out what to do next since I don't have that kind of money to dump into a car I've had for a only year and a half.

Eats

Brekkie

Green Smoothie:
  • 1 cup frozen blueberries
  • 2 cups fresh organic baby romaine
  • 1 cup almond milk
  • 3 oz Chobani 0%

Lunch

I split an Eggplant Marino from Anthony's Coal Fired Pizza with Abbie. Yum!  She stopped by the T-Tapp office for a quick lunch before going to meet more of her Florida friends at the beach.  I ate a few bites of the bread and then tossed it.  Not a big fan of their bread, but the eggplant is SO delicious!

Dinner

I made some fresh homemade hummus with Abbie.  We split an Ezekiel wrap in half, added hummus spread, green pepper, tomatoes, cheddar and greens, then wrapped it up.

And made some fresh organic sweet potato fries with spicy honey mustard.

Drinks

At State Theater I enjoyed 2 Shock Top beers and 2 ice waters.

St. Petersburg's State Theater

I ♥ Sunshine & Bullets!

Abbie, me and Lauren
After the show we walked a few blocks over to The Emerald... and my water drinking continued.  It was a fun night with about 10 of my closest friends!  Wish we could do this more often, and I wish I lived closer to Abbie too.

{ weekend } Rock, Sleep, Eat

Clear Blue Skies!

Things I did last weekend...
  • Organized my filing cabinet.  Exciting!
  • Took several naps. Guess I needed the extra sleep.
  • Made cookies!  Oatmeal Almond and Cherry Chocolate Balls again.
  • Rocked out Saturday night to 6 great bands.
  • Stayed up later than I have in forever... went to bed just before 5am on Sunday morning.

Things I didn't do last weekend...
  • Workout more than just PBS and Hoe Downs.
  • Keep track of my healthy habits

Friday's Eats

Brekkie

I know I wasn't feeling that well Friday morning.  Before work I ate 1 scrambled egg and downed a bunch of water and vitamins.

Then ordered a Vanilla Rooibos Tea Latte (unsweet) and made Ezekiel Cinnamon Raisin toast with Organic PB.

Lunch

I think this qualifies for lunch since it was what I ate after breakfast... even though I ate it after 5pm.  1/2 Pumpkin muffin and Grande Iced Green Tea (unsweet).

Dinner

Giant Ezekiel Taco with Blue Moon Harvest.

Dessert

About 4 homemade Oatmeal Almond cookies with Original Almond Breeze.

Saturday's Eats

Brekkie

Green Smoothie Ingredients:

  • 2 cups fresh organic spinach
  • 1 cup frozen wild blueberries
  • 1/2 cup fresh cucumber, chopped
  • 1 cup Original Almond Breeze
  • 1 packed of Vega Vanilla Chai

Want to know how to ruin a perfectly delicious smoothie?  Add Vega.  Maybe its better just with almond milk.

I didn't drink much of that pretty smoothie.  Made some more Raw Vegan Dark Cherry Chocolate Balls and ate about 4 instead.

Lunch

Grilled Cheese with Cheddar and Reduced Fat Feta, Roasted Red Pepper Hummus, Spinach and Organic Tomatoes.

Followed by a cookie or two...

Dinner

A really quick turkey taco salad.

At the Rock Show I drank a glass of Shock Top.

And a Cherry Bomb with some friends...

Here are a few shots of my favorite bands of the night...

SEVEN
Sunshine & Bullets
1/3 SHADOWSELF

Late Snacks

How can you possibly NOT be hungry when you get home after 4 in the morning?

2 Scrambled Eggs with Organic Tomatoes.

And a cookie...

Sunday's Eats

Brekkie

Whole Wheat French Toast with Organic Maple Syrup and Original Almond Breeze.

Lunch

Two turkey tacos on blue shells.

Dinner

Salmon with Steamed Broccoli, Brown Rice and Organic Tomatoes.

On Monday I was wishing for a repeat Labor Day.  Would've been nice to sleep for another 24 hours.  I don't know how I used to stay up so late all the time... guess I'm getting old.

Sunshine & Bullets

Last night I went to Gasoline Alley to see Sunshine & Bullets play. They were awesome!  I really love a good female fronted band... and locally they're hard to find these days, but now I've got a new fave local band!

I enjoyed this Yuengling during their set...

Then hurried home to get some beauty rest.  I'm extra tired today though.  Can't wait to get home and relax!

Boots with a Sundress

I this Stained Glass at Green Springs!

Well, last night was a LATE night.  Yet again I'm recapping the day before.

I did manage to squeeze in a few healthy habits, including a full workout.  SHADOWSELF (my boyfriend's band) played a show at Gasoline Alley last night.  Even though it was a work night, I decided to go show my support and ended up having some fun too.  They rocked it!

Eats

Brekkie

Green Monster with the little bit of produce left in my fridge: 2 cups fresh organic spinach, 1/2 cup frozen wild blueberries, 1/2 cup frozen pineapple, 1 cup original Almond Breeze.  Not too filling, but it almost lasted me until lunch.  (Sorry no photo! Just imagine a very, very green frothy drink.)

I also had a glass of hot organic green tea.

Lunch

My lovely mother picked me up and took me out to lunch at the local Green Springs restaurant in Safety Harbor.

This was my first time actually eating in the restaurant since they moved to this location.  BTW, this is an old house turned eatery and it is absolutely adorable inside!  Check out that stained glass image above. Beautiful!

I ordered the Grilled Mahi-Mahi Sandwich. Yum!

And we finished off our meal with some handmade Berry Cobbler. OMG to die for!

I barely tasted any added sugar.  Mostly just berries and the crumble on top with a bit of the ice cream.  (Would be a vegan dish, minus the ice cream.)  I'd like to try making this at home!

Thanks for the wonderful lunch Mom! I love you!

Dinner

Again, dinner was rushed.  We stopped by Subway and Marcel ordered the Italian BMT.  I ate about a 1/4 of this sandwich (since I really didn't even want a sandwich).  Seems like sandwiches are an easy solution when time crunched... need to think of something else (healthier) for those type of situations.

At the venue I sipped on a Yuengling, but didn't even drink a whole one (maybe 1/2?).  We played some pool and I knocked a few balls in.  Over the course of the evening I drank 2 bottles of water... and the bartender gave me a free Jägerbomb shotTHAT woke me up!!!  It has been months (maybe years?) since I drank one of those shots.

SHADOWSELF rockin' on stage!

Thanks to all my Facebook friends who commented on whether or not I should wear boots with a sundress in the Florida summer heat.

I took the plunge and wore them anyway.  Got a few compliments on my outfit, so I think it turned out to be pretty stylish!  Surprisingly several girls were wearing boots (with skirts or shorts) too.

Dress: Target
Boots: Slouchy Blue Suede, purchased online years ago

P.S. Tonight we're having another (free) movie date night in Tampa, so I will try my best to get my blog on before bed.
