Friday Fun with Friends

Hope you had a Happy World Vegetarian Day!  I've been eating more and more vegetarian these days... without really trying.  Actually, did eat 100% Veggie today too.  I have to admit that I'm totally addicted to green smoothies.  They get 2 servings of veggies in my system first thing in the morning. Power punch of natural nutrients from whole foods.  Yum!  I made Abbie (my sister) her first ever green smoothie today. She loved it!

Friday night Abbie and I met up with a bunch of our friends in St. Pete for a rock show at State Theater.  4 bands played and I knew 3 of them.  Good times!  Since we ended up going to bed just before 5am, I didn't get to post my blog last night.

My Car Woes... please continue to scroll for Friday's eats.
It was our THIRD trip to St. Pete for the day... dropped my car off at the Mazda dealership to get the 5th gear in my manual transmission evaluated.  It keeps popping out of 5th gear as I'm driving... and I really NEED my 5th gear!  At the end of the day I paid $99 for a transmission diagnostic, a car wash and to be told that I need an entirely new rebuilt transmission installed for $3,500, including labor! *Gasp!* followed by tears streaming down my face.  If only I had a warranty!  (Or won the lottery.)  So I'm trying to figure out what to do next since I don't have that kind of money to dump into a car I've had for a only year and a half.

Eats

Brekkie

Green Smoothie:
  • 1 cup frozen blueberries
  • 2 cups fresh organic baby romaine
  • 1 cup almond milk
  • 3 oz Chobani 0%

Lunch

I split an Eggplant Marino from Anthony's Coal Fired Pizza with Abbie. Yum!  She stopped by the T-Tapp office for a quick lunch before going to meet more of her Florida friends at the beach.  I ate a few bites of the bread and then tossed it.  Not a big fan of their bread, but the eggplant is SO delicious!

Dinner

I made some fresh homemade hummus with Abbie.  We split an Ezekiel wrap in half, added hummus spread, green pepper, tomatoes, cheddar and greens, then wrapped it up.

And made some fresh organic sweet potato fries with spicy honey mustard.

Drinks

At State Theater I enjoyed 2 Shock Top beers and 2 ice waters.

St. Petersburg's State Theater

I ♥ Sunshine & Bullets!

Abbie, me and Lauren
After the show we walked a few blocks over to The Emerald... and my water drinking continued.  It was a fun night with about 10 of my closest friends!  Wish we could do this more often, and I wish I lived closer to Abbie too.

Oranges All Over Dunedin

When leaving my Dad's office tonight I saw these bright, juicy oranges painted on the wall.  I had to snap a picture.

As we walked around Dunedin I noticed there were more oranges painted on the buildings around town.  Is this a new (and very talented) graffiti artist? Or something that the city meant to do on purpose?

Hmmm.... curious!  So I just had to Google it.  And wouldn't you know it, Dunedin has an Orange Festival.  Who knew?  Dunedin hosted the First Annual Dunedin Orange Festival in July 2010.  This new orange initiative is a way for the city of Dunedin to brand themselves as orange lovers.  I adore oranges... yum!

Rainy Monday

Tampa Airport... 4 airlines on the blue side and all the others are red. What happened?

It started pouring this morning... I mean really coming down. Ordering Starbucks in the drive-thru left me and my car soaked. The weather cleared up by the afternoon and the Florida sun was shining again.

Today was pretty uneventful, except that Marcel came home!!! A week without him was kinda strange... I kept busy, but at times didn't know what to do with myself.

My horoscope for today:
It's a good time to start a new exercise regimen -- or to intensify the one you already follow. Your physical energy is just right for making a positive difference in your health in some new way.

As I was eating this I really just wanted some broccoli... this whole lack of fruits and veggie in my diet is killing me. Tomorrow I will go shopping for green monster ingredients and easy veggie meals. Missing my kitchen.

Snake Invasion

This afternoon we've had about 3 snakes in the T-Tapp office. Not sure how they're getting in here! But there were a few screams today. Luckily they're all black racers (aka not poisonous). Scott from next door came over to catch this one...

Ah, the joys of living in a tropical paradise!

{ weekend } Gasparilla Pirate Fest

Some how my camera got stuck in this crazy shooting mode, so I ran with it.

Saturday, January 30th

Got up fairly reasonable time this morning... trying to get into party mode for the Gasparilla festivities today. We're heading over to my friends house and crossing our fingers that it doesn't rain all day.

Today's Workout:

Primary Back Stretch + lots of walking.

Today's Food Log:

Brekkie

Scrambled Eggs, Whole Wheat Toast with Butter and Organic Romaine.

Party Time

Dance Party Room ♥

Once at the party I snacked on a few things...
  • Chips and 7 Layer dip
  • Tiny Pigs in a Blanket
  • Baby Carrots
  • Raw Broccoli

And enjoyed a couple cold beers from the keg while we tried to wait out the rain...

Parade

We walked a few blocks down to the parade. The weather was horrible; raining lightly and really windy, especially since we were at the edge of the water. My umbrella was blowing out and there was nothing I could do about it. A poncho would have been fantastic. Last year it was a beautiful day for a parade, this year not so much.

Wishing we were at that house party behind us, dry.

Beads!

Lunch

Had some pita chips and hummus when we got back... and another beer.

Dinner

Then we ordered some to-go from Smoke.

Unfortunately, since the area was slammed with so many pirates it took over an hour for us to get our cold food.

I ordered the Chicken Kabob, which came with Bell Peppers, Pineapple and Onions and Green Beans and Sweet Potato on the side.

Marcel ordered the Pulled Pork Sandwich with Fries. I had a few bites of his too.

Relaxing on the couch. This photo has a vintage feel.

Dessert

Once home I ate a Coconut Popsicle... and crashed on the couch.
