{ weekend } The Great Outdoors & Halloween Shopping

Día de los Muertos
Bonjour!  The great outdoors is calling me with this phenomenal weather.  Nature has many health benefits of its own and all you have to do to reap them is get outside and enjoy the green nature around you.

I enjoyed my first day off in since October 3rd.  Ah, Saturday... has to be my favorite day of the week.  I slept in for the first time in a while.  After trying to get rid of my caffeine withdraw with homemade brew, we headed to Einstein's for a bite to eat and took a short drive to Philippe Park to enjoy the scenery and fresh air. The park is peaceful until screaming kids go by, but I like the Indian Mound, water views and basking in the sunshine.

After breakfast we took Roxy home and ventured out to do some Halloween shopping... starting with Goodwill and Salvation Army, then to the House of Make Believe (my favorite costume store ever) and a few other random stops.  So far I have makeup, one accessory and a head brimming with ideas for a costume gone wild with imagination.  Stay tuned...

A picnic at Philippe Park by the little beach on a blanket in the beautiful sun...

{ weekend } Picnic at the Park

Roxy at Philippe Park on Saturday.

This morning I wasn't feeling hungry... I was really thirsty.  Started my day off drinking about 1 liter of alkaline water.  Didn't feel hungry until about 4pm. (Could have something to do with the New Moon? Maybe that post from yesterday?)

Eats

Brekkie

Fresh Organic Veggie Juice.

Organic Romaine, Beets, Carrots, Gala Apple and Lemon.
SO yummy!

Lunch

My mom came over to visit late this afternoon.  We hung out and talked, then decided to go get some pizza nearby.  Not so sure that was the best idea, although it sounded good at the time.

I forgot my camera at home, but ended up eating a slice and a half of spinach pizza from Westshore Pizza.

About 10 minutes post-pizza I got a killer headache.  Think that was too much too soon after drinking so much cleansing fluids all day.

Dinner

Cascadian Farms Maple Granola with original Almond Breeze, frozen wild blueberries and chocolate chips.

Healthy Habits

I had a few sips... way too sweet though.

Sprouted Grain Cinnamon Raisin toast with Blueberry Jam.

Plus a few prunes and chocolate chips.

We made Buitoni Mushroom Ravioli with organic broccoli and tomatoes.

It turned out amazing!

On the Menu: Beach Picnic

Can you say TGIF? I can!

I am SO looking forward to starting my weekend! Since my man is out of town I thought it would be the perfect time to reconnect with my best friend, Lolly. (T-Tappers will know her as Lauren and know her well since she's super helpful on the phones in the office.) She invited me over to stay at her house tonight. We're planning on working out, making dinner and going to The 8th Avenue Pub... then walking home. Roxy's coming along for the ride, well, except for the Pub.

Saturday morning we're planning on going out to breakfast at a local place then heading to Sand Key Beach for a lunchtime picnic in the sun. I'm excited! I adore beach days... even though I don't get out there as much as I'd like to. Sand Key is a beautiful beach! We're probably going to the North Sand Key area you see in the map below.

At the same time I am devastated about the oil "spill" currently gushing in the Gulf. And very, very worried -- not only for Florida's Gulf Coast, but about the entire East Coast of the country. I'm trying to think positive thoughts and wish that the people in power actually DO something about this one and FIX the problem before the entire United States is blaming BP for ruining our country's coast line... and beyond. It truly breaks my heart to know that sea creatures are dying by the minute from polluted waters that they used to call home.

On the Menu

Fresh Florida Watermelon Slices
Perfect for this time of year!

Picnic Chicken and Hummus Pita
Adapted from this recipe - just add more veggies and hummus instead of mayo)

Margaritas on the Rocks
Classic!

Plus lots of water!!!

Au revoir!

P.S. Check out Lolly's new baking blog: Delicious Devotion! She's the one that made that amazing Rainbow Cake a few weeks back.

Sublime Sunday

I slept in this morning with good reason. Actually I feel pretty amazing for staying up almost all night.

It is gorgeous outside!!!

12:45pm: coffee with vanilla Almond Breeze/sugar

We had a picnic by the water...

3:00pm: Einstein's Veg Out on good grain bagel, some Caesar salad, iced coffee with vanilla Almond Breeze/sugar

I'm addicted to this sandwich.

Drank about half of this before the ice melted.

6:40pm: whole wheat pasta salad (macaroni pasta, chickpeas, EVOO, Parmesan cheese, reduced fat feta cheese, garlic pepper, sea salt, tomato, spinach, garlic)

Sorry, not the best photo.

7:00pm-9:00pm: 2 beers

Apparently I passed out on the couch with Roxy last night because someone took my photo!

Haha!
