2010 T-Tapp Retreat: Day 4 & Trainer Certification Retreat

Bonjour! I'm still catching up on my posts, as you can see...  Above is another gorgeous sunrise over Tampa Bay I took on 10.10.10. (Just to think the next 10.10.10 will be on October 10th, 2110!)

First thing in the morning Teresa led a final Senior Fit workout and we finished measuring the event attendees shortly after.  Every year I am so amazed at how many inches everyone drops in a matter of one weekend, by pushing maximum form, learning and applying new techniques and tweaks... maybe a massage, reflexology session or steam time in the sauna.  Balancing relaxation and rest, plus hydration and quality eats with all the physical activity is important!

The Retreat workouts count as a Blitz type of Boot Camp; this is where you do 2-4 workouts per day (depending on the individual) for two days in a row and end with 1-2 final workouts on day three. You can choose to do as many or few workouts as you'd like. Sit in the back and take notes... T-Tapp Retreats are all about education!  Knowledge is power and everyone who attends really gets better with the mind to muscle connection (neuro-kinetic flow) and maintaining form too!

Top 5 Inch Loss Winners of the 2010 T-Tapp Retreat:
  1. Laurie Brooks - 31.25 inches
  2. Dawne Gordon - 22.50 inches
  3. Cryssanthe Detroyer - 19.25 inches
  4. Claudine Henry - 19 inches
  5. Stephanie Robinson - 18 inches

110 combined inches lost for the top 5 winners! Awesome!

In the photo, left to right: Laurie, Cryssanthe, and Claudine...

Congratulations ladies!

The other inch loss winners were not in the room for the announcement.

And I've even seen other Retreat attendees post on Facebook and the T-Tapp Forum about additional inch loss a week after they left Florida.  It's like residual results!

Teresa ended the 2010 T-Tapp Retreat with a Final Straight Through Workout that was a fusion of the other previous workouts done over the weekend.  We all said our goodbyes and parted ways (well, most of us), hoping to meet again soon at another fabulous T-Tapp event...

Our Annual T-Tapp Trainer Certification Retreat started at 4pm on Sunday, with the actual certification classes beginning on Monday morning and stretching through end of day on Tuesday.  During this event we have our trainers and trainers-in-training (TNTs) come in to teach the T-Tapp workout (Total Workout, T-Tapp MORE, Hit the Floor, and/or Ladybug) to be certified by Teresa Tapp to teach that workout in anywhere around the world.

Sunday, October 10th Eats

Brekkie

Starbucks Grande Nonfat Vanilla Latte, Fresh Fruit Cup, KIND Fruit & Nut Bar.

Forget the fruit and get an apple instead...

Lunch

Lauren and I had a window of free time and made it to Val & Matty's Wedding Party!

Asian Pasta, Scallops and Duck Quesadilla.

Plus one Bud Light beer.

I wish we had more time to hang out with our friends at the party, but we headed back to the Spa for the start of our Trainer Certification Retreat.

It was wonderful seeing the trainers again!  We're like one big happy family of sisters.  It's so fun to be with everyone, catch up, workout, learn new form techniques, eat fabulous food and drink!

Dinner

For dinner we headed over to the new pizzeria in town... Dominic's.  This place rocks!  We got a Mother-In-Law Pizza and it was fantastic.

The Mother-In-Law pizza... no sauce, mozzerella, cheddar and feta cheeses, tomato, spinach and garlic. YUM!  My new favorite pizza.

And I drank a Blue Moon when we got back to the spa.

Joan Schrader did another presentation for the trainers on magnesium oil and prill beads.  And a Trainer Only Meeting with Teresa followed that session, we wrapped things up before 11pm.

Trainer workouts started at 7am the following day, Monday the 11th.

When I locate my green robot flash drive with all my backed up photos I'll be able to finish up Monday, October 11th - Thursday, October 14th.

Au revoir!

2010 T-Tapp Retreat: Day 3

As I mentioned before, I saw the most beautiful sunrises during the Retreat. Each day was breathtaking, made me fully understand why people live near the water.  Here's the view from my hotel room...

Somehow managed to skip all workouts on Saturday... guess I was busy working!  I am so thankful for the T-Tapp Retreat.  I love this time of year, connecting with clients that I work with via phone and email, spending time with T-Tapp Trainers, Forum Users, Challenge Winners, Newbies and Retreat Veterans is so much fun it almost shouldn't be called "work".  (Shh... don't tell the boss!)  I can honestly say that I love my job.  The T-Tappers make it all worth while.  Every year we continue to learn, grow and change for the better, meeting again looking younger, more toned and full of positivity.  I'm even smiling at strangers these days!

Saturday's speakers and some tid-bits I took away from their presentations...

Mary Shomon, Thyroid patient advocate and NY Times best-selling author.  Mary is a T-Tapper and Bichon Frise owner, like Teresa Tapp.  She's a bunch of fun and really knows her stuff when it comes to the thyroid.  Some of the things I learned from Mary at the Retreat are...
  • Ask your doctor for the tests you need (thyroid, adrenal, etc) during during your annual physical. They are more likely to order them for you at that time.
  • Chronic dieting lowers metabolism, as much as a 60% reduction in basal metabolic rate.
  • Calories in, calories out is not true anymore.  Your hormones play a part in weight loss.
Mary recommends:
  1. Mindful eating: stop and take the time to eat. Smell, touch, taste and enjoy your food.
  2. Stress reduction: stress created cortisol, which leads to belly fat among other things, and could result in a leptin issue (the "full" feeling hormone).
  3. Cut sugar and simple carbs: food carries energy, good or bad. Focus on eating whole foods and avoiding sugar when possible.
  4. Don't overexercise: gentle, regular, cardio and muscle building exercise is key... like T-Tapp!  Love your workout.

Dr. Rob Carlson a cardio-thoracic surgeon that knows his stuff about hormones and is passionate about the thyroid. He recommended taking vitamin D over the flu vaccine, and I was happy to hear that!  Vitamin D improves immunity, so take yours daily.  Dr. Rob did a demonstration on his Stop-It product, which makes sugar powerless in just one taste.  T-Tappers were literally spitting out chocolate!  Amazing.

Joan Schrader from Health and Wisdom spoke to us about the power of Magnesium Oil.  Basically, you need this stuff!  Our bodies crave magnesium and it's very difficult to get your levels up quickly with supplements.  Magnesium Oil is applied topically anywhere on the body, but most effectively on the feet.  Joan recommends using 2-4 ounces of magnesium oil in a warm foot bath. Delightful!  She also talked to us about Prill Beads and how they make your water hexagonal on a molecular level so your body can absorb it.  Not all water is created equal!

Teresa Tapp did a More Than a Workout Seminar where she discussed how the T-Tapp program is so much more than another workout to get you in a smaller size.  She told us about her health scare last year with tumors in her breast and how she was able to heal naturally using her knowledge of the body.  I'm so thankful to have Teresa Tapp in my life.  I've learned so much from her over the years, and she never ceases to amaze me with the new things she comes up with.  Thanks for another fabulous year, Teresa!

Saturday, October 9th Eats

Brekkie

Starbucks Grande Iced Green Tea and Spinach Wrap.

Lunch

We ate lunch in the Four Springs Ballroom, which has a beautifully painted cathedral ceiling and crystal chandelier lighting.

Salmon Caesar Salad.

Sourdough Bread with 1/2 Butter Ball.

Lobster Bisque... right, Jen?  Too much good food to remember...

Dinner

Before dinner we took a group photo outside by the pool... well, most of us.

I got a Blue Moon at the tiki hut before heading inside for dinner with the Retreat attendees.

We had the Floribbean themed dinner together...

2010 T-Tapp Retreat: Day 2

Annette and Jennifer with Joan
from Health And Wisdom
Did I mention the Retreat is like a T-Tapp Reunion?  This photo catches the excitement of a few of my favorite ladies thrilled to be together again for the weekend.

Meal time was done a bit differently this year, we did it Beauty Boot Camp style... instead of on-your-own with only one big meal on Friday night we enjoyed lunch and dinner together on Friday and Saturday with a guest speaker afterward.  It worked out perfectly.  We got to sit at different tables each time and socialize with everyone.  Plus, listening and learning as we digested the delicious spa food was quite nice.

Friday's speakers included...

Shelly Ballestero (lunch seminar): presented on skin care.  Your skin tells a story!  She gave us a few DIY recipes for skin care and educated us about chemical ingredients in our products.

Julie Brannon (dinner seminar): presented on Earth's medicine and key nutrients for great health.

Teresa Tapp did a seminar on Cellulite and Products.  Did you know your big toe is connected to your belly? Lift your big toe to feel the activation in your tummy.  And our Grapefruit Essential Oil is produced from Florida Grapefruit!  How cool is that?

Renee McLaughlin and Lisa Moretti: presented on Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) and taught us how to use it for exercise consistency.  They're both EFT certified and shared their knowledge with us on how to use this simple, yet powerful tool.

My Workouts
There were 4 workouts on Friday.
I was able to do the Progressive Basic Super Slow class + the Hoe Down Showdown (10 sets!).

Friday, October 8th Eats

Brekkie

Starbucks Iced Grande Green Tea and Bacon, Egg and Cheese.

Lunch

Chicken with Sweet & Sour Sauce, Green Beans and Red Potatoes.

Tomato Bisque.

 Bread with Butter.

Coffee with Cream and Sugar.

Dinner

White Bean Soup, 2-for-1 Cab.

Salmon, Salad, Grilled Veggies, Pita.

Minted Berries with Fresh Cream.

Would you like some berries with your cream?

It was a fabulous day at the T-Tapp Retreat...

2010 T-Tapp Retreat: Day 1

Day 1 of the T-Tapp Retreat is exciting!  Our attendees arrive at the Safety Harbor Resort & Spa, check in and get measured by a T-Tapp Trainer or Staff Member. We keep track of the inches lost during the Retreat for fun, motivation and learning.  Check-in started at 11am, so we spent the first day at the Spa talking with event attendees, like catching up with old friends that all share the same passion... T-Tapp exercise!

After the measurements, we started T-Tapper introductions where each person gets up on stage and tells their T-Tapp story.  This part of the Retreat is so amazing.  I love hearing about how the T-Tapp program has transformed people's lives, bodies and attitudes.

Following that session Venus DeMarco spoke to us about healing breast cancer naturally.  She was also a speaker at the July 2010 Beauty Boot Camp Retreat.  Venus recommends that we love and take care of our "girls" with daily massage using Pomegranate Breast Oil.  I love her personality and admire her courage.  Looking forward to reading Venus' book about the journey of her bodacious ta-tas!

We actually got to our room before midnight, but with all the excitement it was difficult falling asleep.

Thursday, October 7th Eats

Brekkie

Jamba Juice Bright Eyed and Blueberry 16oz and Banana Steel-cut Oats.

Lunch

Mahi Mahi, Salad, Grilled Veggies, Roll with Butter.

Dinner

A quick bite from the Mediterranean appetizers including grilled veggies and cous cous.

Sorry, no photo...

The Annual T-Tapp Fitness Retreat was Fabulous!

I'm living at the beautiful Safety Harbor Resort & Spa for a whole week!  LOVE this place!

Safety Harbor Spa is the largest spa facility in the southern US -- the spa alone is about 40,000 square feet!  Located on Tampa Bay, the Spa has a great water view and downtown feel with shops, restaurants and bars within walking distance.  I'm working the T-Tapp Retreat, so I don't get spa time...but I do get to workout and enjoy the speakers!

I took almost 500 images with my boyfriend's Canon Rebel DSLR during the Retreat and can't wait to go through them.  (Everyone is calling me "Camera Casey" now!)  This event has been my favorite of them all.  They get better and better every year!  It was like a big T-Tapper reunion and we had some Retreat newbies too, with a lot of cutting edge health education on healing cancer naturally, hormones and the thyroid gland, the power of transdermal magnesium and prill beads, and how to be a beauty detective.  I learned some new things, probably lost a few inches and really had a genuinely great weekend!

I have SO much more to tell you about this fabulous Retreat.  Tonight our Trainer Certification Retreat began and we're getting ready to workout in the morning with Teresa, followed by a trainer teaching T-Tapp workouts every hour all day long.  Wishing good luck to all our Trainers!

IMPORTANT Information About Photo Submission

Earlier this year we held the January Jump Start Challenge and tried something new with an online form where participants entered their information and uploaded photos directly on our site. This method helped us keep everything more organized. We are using the same form for this challenge as well.

Many people had trouble with the photo submission section due to having to resize and name the photos properly. This is VERY important. Your photos are how Teresa will choose winners, so we need to make sure that yours are accurate, clear and the right size. Please refer to the Photograph Rules for complete details.

Make sure your images are resized to be less than 200KB using the photo resizing tool on the entry page.

The server can't handle really large photos, so if you are having a problem processing this form or receive a username/password prompt your file size may be exceeding the maximum allowed. Please use the file size tool provided in the photo instructions to reduce your file size and try again.

Last time some tried resizing the images themselves and sometimes it worked, but sometimes the images were way too small and we had to ask for resubmission. So PLEASE use the tool that is linked from the site to size your images correctly. (See Below.) Also PLEASE keep all your original photos so that if we need them resubmitted you have them on file.

How to Use the Handy Photo Resizing Tool

Use THIS TOOL to resize your pictures and then:
1. Browse and select the image from your computer.
2. Select "Custom 1000px" for image size.
3. Skip Step 3.
4. Select "Better" for image quality to stay under 200k.
5. Click Resize.
6. Click on the link "Download this picture Now".
7. A Save As Box will pop up. Save the file to a place on your computer, like your desktop, where you can find the file easily.
8. Rename the photographs according to the Photograph Rules.

It's VERY important that this is done correctly. If you have any trouble with this function you may contact Kitty directly at kitala@aol.com.

We know this is an extra step and really appreciate your understanding.

We LOVE This Challenge!

Here at T-Tapp we love this challenge because the stories of successes from our clients continue to motivate and inspire us every year. This is a wonderful time for you to get fit for the summer and enter for a chance to win attendance at the Retreat to workout with Teresa Tapp herself.

60-Day Challenge participants always start a support thread on the T-Tapp Forum. If you're not already a Forum member, sign up for free today!

GOOD LUCK!

Retreat Recap: Day 3 & 4

Recap, October 3rd: Day 3

Sunrise view from my hotel room. Beautiful!

It's Saturday, October 3rd. Bright and early we're picking up the massive amount of brooms, yes brooms, from the T-Tapp office for the 8am Basic Plus and T-Tapp Broom workout.

7:40am: organic gala apple, cranberry orange nut muffin, Starbucks iced grande nonfat vanilla latte (not pictured)

I did the whole Basic Plus and T-Tapp Broom workout and it was amazing.

11:20am: steak wrap with sweet potato fries

Shannon & Ava

We had a buffet dinner with so many delicious options that I forgot to take a photo.

7:00pm: steak, grouper, veggies, etc

Gemma played us a few of her songs at the end of dinner. Her voice, sound and lyrics are so beautiful that they bring tears to your eyes. It was such a treat having her perform this year.

7:40pm: 1/2 slice pecan pie with fresh berries and coffee with cream/sugar

Mary Shomon, a thyroid expert from About.com and NY Times bestselling author, did a presentation for us about the thyroid.

I learned some new things from her as well...
  • The thyroid manages cellular energy at a functional level.
  • Hypothyroidism is what the majority of people have, which means that the thyroid is under active.
  • Hyperthyroidism means that the thyroid is overactive.
  • Melatonin helps with anti-aging, gets rid of morning fatigue and depression.
  • Everyone should drink 1 ounce of water for 1 pound of body weight.

What a great end to a lovely day at the T-Tapp Retreat.

Recap, October 4th: Day 4

This was the last day of the T-Tapp Retreat. Seems like I have been waiting so long for the Retreat to come and now it's already over!

Another beautiful sunrise!!!

This morning I did my final measurements on my T-Tappers. They all did fantastic!

I skipped the morning stretch and final workout to get some work done and last minute things completed.

10:00am: breakfast buffet at the spa, Starbucks grande nonfat pumpkin spice latte

I headed home at 2pm to get some rest before court in the morning. It was nice to be home. I was so exhausted that I basically napped away the rest of the day.

4:30pm: 2 turkey tacos and salad

9:30pm:
2 slices of California pizza kitchen garlic chicken pizza with fresh spinach

Trainer Certifications start on Monday, October 5th. I'll be heading back to the spa after court to do some workouts with the trainers.
