2010 T-Tapp Retreat: Day 1

Day 1 of the T-Tapp Retreat is exciting!  Our attendees arrive at the Safety Harbor Resort & Spa, check in and get measured by a T-Tapp Trainer or Staff Member. We keep track of the inches lost during the Retreat for fun, motivation and learning.  Check-in started at 11am, so we spent the first day at the Spa talking with event attendees, like catching up with old friends that all share the same passion... T-Tapp exercise!

After the measurements, we started T-Tapper introductions where each person gets up on stage and tells their T-Tapp story.  This part of the Retreat is so amazing.  I love hearing about how the T-Tapp program has transformed people's lives, bodies and attitudes.

Following that session Venus DeMarco spoke to us about healing breast cancer naturally.  She was also a speaker at the July 2010 Beauty Boot Camp Retreat.  Venus recommends that we love and take care of our "girls" with daily massage using Pomegranate Breast Oil.  I love her personality and admire her courage.  Looking forward to reading Venus' book about the journey of her bodacious ta-tas!

We actually got to our room before midnight, but with all the excitement it was difficult falling asleep.

Mahi Mahi, Salad, Grilled Veggies, Roll with Butter.

Power of Magnesium Oil

I finally broke down and bought some Magnesium Oil.  It's about time!  This product is amazing. It was just what I was missing in my routine.

Magnesium is such an important part of overall health.  It helps with improving a large variety of ailments.  Here's the brochure I received with my gallon that lists conditions that Magnesium Oil will help.

Unlike magnesium supplements, you don't have to digest the oil.  (Digesting magnesium is the super slow way to get your levels up.  You could take it every day for 5 years and your levels still wouldn't be up!)  Instead you apply the oil topically and do foot or bath soaks for about 20 minutes.  Last night I did my first foot soak.  My feet were tingling by the end and I felt really relaxed.  It was good to unwind and get my magnesium levels up!  I'm going to apply it to the bottoms of my feet (and anywhere else that aches) in the morning, then aim for a foot soak in the evening.

This is really incredible stuff!  It takes out my pain/soreness within minutes.  I can't believe how fast it works.  I must have been really deficient even though I've been trying to take Natural Calm before bed lately.

I'm making Magnesium Oil a part of my healthy habits!  You should too.

Contact Joan over at Health and Wisdom to place your order or ask any questions.  Joan did a presentation at a T-Tapp Retreat a few years ago and we all learned so much from her.  She's a great resource of health-related information.

Maybe the Magnesium Oil has something to do with my happy mood over the past few days?  I think so!

Rainy Day

{ the view outside my window }

It's raining and gloomy today!

I was lucky enough to get in to see Margie for a massage first thing this morning. She made a world of difference on my shoulder (and whole body). I can lift my arm higher now, but it still hurts to do stuff. Driving a stick shift is NOT fun.

It's Getting Hot in Here

Left my camera cord at the office, so this post is a bit delayed.

Sweat Session

After work I headed to my Far Infrared Sauna "appointment" with myself to relax, detox and sweat it out.

While the sauna was heating up I did Primary Back Stretch and body brushed to get my lymphatic system going. I sat in the sauna for about 15 minutes at about 110-120 degrees. Hot!!! I was dripping in sweat, literally. I felt so refreshed afterward. I can tell that this is going to be an easily addicting healthy habit.

Benefits of Far Infrared Therapy:

  1. Decreases joint stiffness.
  2. Relieves muscle spasms.
  3. Increases blood flow.
  4. Leads to pain relief.
  5. Affects soft tissue injury.
  6. Increases the extensibility of collagen tissue.
  7. Assists in resolution of inflammatory infiltrated, edema, and exudes.
  8. Improves micro circulation by exerting strong rotational and vibrational effects at molecular level.
  9. Enhances the delivery of oxygen and nutrients in the blood cell to the body's soft tissue areas.
  10. Promotes regeneration and fast healing.
  11. Increases metabolism between blood and tissue.
  12. Enhances white blood cell function, thereby increasing immune response and the elimination of foreign pathogens and cellular waste products.
  13. Removes accumulated toxins by improving lymph circulation which are often at the core of many health problems.
  14. Stimulate the hypothalamus, which controls the production of neurochemicals involved in such biological processes as sleep, mood, pain sensations, and blood pressure.
  15. Antidotes the negative effects of toxic electromagnetic sources.
The list goes on and on...

A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!!

Once I got home and fueled up with some Irish Beef Stew I did the entire Tempo Lower Body workout. Maxed out my form and now I'm beat!

Road to Wellness

My body is not happy right now. I'm sore all over and have a killer headache. Think I need more detoxing. Seems like I release a bunch of stored toxins, but can't eliminate them quickly and that creates more inflammation which makes me sore. A vicious cycle that I need to figure out like a puzzle. Will ask my doctor about it on Monday.

Snack

I snacked on an Organic Gala Apple while finishing the work day.

Dinner

Organic Ranch Turkey Burger Salad.

So colorful!

After dinner Marcel wanted to print some posters for his show this week and put them up in the Orpheum. So that's exactly what we did... it took maybe an hour for us to get 4 posters printed, hang them up and grab a few slices of New York pizza.

I really do not feel well tonight. This headache will not leave me. Even though it's a beautiful Friday night, I'm not feeling up to hanging out in Ybor. Really wish I was because it would be nice to have a date night out. Next weekend is my birthday... will save up my energy for a fun night out then.

I picked up the latest Creative Loafing and look what's on the cover. Project Runway started a new season! And one of the designers is from Tampa.

We headed home to enjoy a quiet evening with the new Project Runway Season 7 and Netflix. We've managed to get rid of cable and watch everything online or through Netflix DVDs for over 2 years now. That's a lot of savings when you add it up!

My road to wellness has been a long one. Still seems like there's so much more ahead of me. Have to focus on the present and do all I can right now to move forward, a little closer to being well with each day.

Snack

We split one slice when we got home. It was delicious!

These slices are literally the size of my head!

I tried to drink a Sam Adams Cherry Wheat beer tonight, but couldn't finish half of it. Switched back to pure H20 instead.

My Supplements:

Alfalfa: 3 caps
nutraMetrix® Isotonix® Calcium Complete: 1 serving
nutraMetrix® Glucosatrin® Bone & Joint Formula: 1 cap

Catching Up, Art and Healing

I've been too busy to blog these past two days, so I'm catching up now!

Sunday, January 10th

Breakfast

Fried egg and cheese on Ezekiel toast.

Coffee with Silk French Vanilla Creamer.

Lunch

I went to my friend Ruth's house to help her set up an online store to sell her crafts. She's an amazing artist who makes really unique things out of found items, metal and paper.

She made me an amazing lunch!

Hot tea, homemade shortbread chocolate kiss cookie, chicken and veggie soup and a creamy salad with apples, cucumbers and mint. I also had some crackers and bread.

Beast wanted to get some of my lunch...

Here's a piece of Ruth's art, which is a mini-scrapbook.

We're going to get her set up on Etsy.com, which is a site for buying and selling handmade or vintage items, art and supplies - the world's most vibrant handmade marketplace. She will be selling things like this and much, much more. I'm going to take more photographs of all her items and help her get started with an online store. Will update you guys when she's ready to sell.

This is one of my favorites...

An old cigar box turned into art.

When I got home I was freezing and made another cup of coffee...

Dinner

Black beans and brown rice, glass of Shiraz (which I didn't hardly drink) and some saltine crackers with cheese.

I'm all out of veggies except carrots and purple cabbage. Need to food shop!

Monday, January 11th

Coffee

Before leaving for my chiropractic appointment I made a cup of coffee with Silk French Vanilla Creamer.

Appointment

I'm allowed to exercise every other day! Doing a re-evaluation next Monday to see my progress. Healing up very nicely.

Brekkie

After my appointment I stopped at Einstein's for an everything bagel with lowfat cream cheese and small vanilla hazelnut coffee with cream/sugar.

Lunch

Heated up the rest of the black beans and brown rice from last night.

Dinner

Chicken taco with baby organic romaine and shared a sweet potato.

Wow, that was a lot of work. Took almost my whole lunch to post. Gotta keep up with daily posts!

Reflecting 2009, Forcasting 2010

This year was a whirlwind. Really, it was. Seems like it was just summertime and now we're starting a new year. Can't believe that it's the last day of 2009!

There's a certain feeling of starting fresh with a new year. For my resolutions I like to think of 10 things that I want to improve upon, learn or change in a positive way.

I think I actually did pretty well on my 2009 resolutions!

1. Exercise consistently. Check!
I did pretty darn good with consistency for a while. Now taking it easy after my injury.

2. Eat healthy and visit the farmer's markets. Check!
I learned how to eat 6 servings of veggies a day thanks to T'appy Holidays! Could always do more of this and continue the healthy habit. Been missing the farmer's markets! They just opened up again with local produce in November. Will try going this weekend and blog about it.

3. Take better care of car. Check!
I put in a few $K in my Honda before it was totaled in March. Can't wait to get my Mazda back from the body shop!

4. Make a cozier home. Check!
I got lots of cozy items for the apartment. We're settling in so nicely that our space is starting to feel smaller. Thinks it's time for some new IKEA shelves and tables.

5. Learn yoga. Check!
I tried several new yoga DVDs, but am not yet a yogini. Now love downward facing dog! In 2010 I want to try going to live classes.

6. Read more. Check!
I read the whole Twilight series. Dreamy! ♥

7. Continue the past few year's resolution, which has been "Don't get any traffic tickets!" Check!
I'm running on a 5 year streak!

8. Save more money...
Didn't do so good on this one. Try again in 2010! Maybe if I have something to focus on it will be more worth while.

9. Create more art. Check!
Being creative has always been a passion of mine, but as I get older I find that art is something that I really have to make time for. I did, however, make some cool things in 2009.

10. Learn a new language.
I downloaded the Rosetta Stone for French and Spanish. For a little while I worked with the French program, but haven't been very consistent.

So there you have it!

In addition to continuing and elaborating on many of my resolutions from this year as well as making some new healthy resolutions for 2010...

1. Come away from this injury healthy and strong.
2. Start a herb garden and window farm.

3. Experiment with at least 1 new recipe per week.

4. Find time to meditate, completely relax for at least 15 minutes a day.

5. Launch my two new blog site projects.

6. Take art classes, always be creative, fill canvases.

7. Learn French well.
Bonjour!
8. Get a Passport and travel out of the country (hopefully to France one day).

9. Start saving a nest egg for the fun in the future.

10. Become financially free from credit.

And blog about all of it!

2010 is going to be a busy year!
