Kicking off Tappy Holidays 2010

This holiday season I'm armed with healthy tools to keep me accountable, active and eating veggies.  T'appy Holidays with T-Tapp Trainer Lani Muelrath is a T-Tapper's dream.  Lani created a spreadsheet that gives a weekly outline with some healthy habits including daily exercise, body brushing, eating 7 servings of veggies and having a "gusto" breakfast.  For each activity that you complete you get a certain amount of points.  At the end of the week you tally up your points and see where you fall: Goddess, Diva, Muse or Flirt.  We all want to be Goddesses!!!

This is a wonderful way to keep up with your healthy habits and stay on track with a fitness plan during the busiest time of year!  Tappy Holidays started on Sunday, November 7th.  I technically started on Monday because I was feeling under the weather this weekend and needed to get a newsletter done for work.

Monday, November 8th
So far so good!  Yesterday I got in 6 servings of veggies and my body brushing.  Skipped a gusto brekkie and had a cup of hot coffee (it's cold in Florida!) with cream and raw sugar, plus an organic golden delicious apple once I got to the office.  I was starving by lunch and devoured 2.5 cups of raw salad (romaine, spinach, onion, carrots, cilantro) and 1 cup of homemade pumpkin soup.  That's 5 servings of veggies at lunch alone!  For dinner I made a fresh organic beef chili packed with veggies (zucchini, green pepper, onion, garlic, and kidney beans).  Almost 7 servings, but one short due to skipping brekkie... the most important meal of the day!

No exercise though...very busy day and I didn't make the time for it.  No excuses.

Tuesday, November 9th
I made sure to get in my veggies... 1.5 cups of chopped zucchini, onion and baby bellas accompanied my 2 scrambled eggs with BVI Seasoning and Garlic Pepper.  That's 3 servings of veggies!  For lunch I ate another bowl of my pumpkin soup, which accounted for another 2 servings.  And dinner was more of my beef chili.  I did sneak in a few all-natural gummy bears.

Workout: Basic Workout Plus + floor work (OIP/HF, 15 Crunches, AL, PT, DD) for a 30 minute "free choice" routine.  And got my body brushing in too!

Will keep you posted on my T'appy Holidays progress each week in a wrap-up blog.  For now I'm off to get in more veggies...  staying stocked up on produce is KEY!

Au revoir!

Car Accident #3

Sunday I didn't get to my post... we spent the afternoon recovering from our late night out on the town. Then headed over to Matty and Val's house for a party that evening. By the time we got home I was exhausted and didn't want to hop on the computer.

Monday I was going to do Sunday's post, but then at lunch I left the office to run a few errands and pick up my food. On the way back to the office this really elderly woman pulled out right in front of me. I slammed on my breaks, but didn't have enough time or space to stop before I slammed right into the driver side of her car.

Luckily there was a man on the sidewalk who witnessed the whole incident. He stayed around to give a statement to the police. The woman was ticketed for failure to yield. She had no idea what happened... said I wasn't there (then why are the police on the scene of our accident?) and then that I was speeding (so why pull out?). She is almost 90 years old, can't see (obviously) and in my opinion should not be on the road.

I have whiplash all over again and am in a lot of pain. I had Marcel pick me up after the accident and went home to sleep. Tuesday morning I got an appointment at Dr. Pierce's clinic for an exam and x-rays. They are hopeful that their treatment can help me, but I will have to go 3 times a week for a few weeks.

Wednesday I went back to Dr. Pierce's clinic. The doctor reviewed my x-rays with me, took a few more x-rays (they do special ones), then I got my adjustment with the sound wave (sounds and feels like nothing), and finally more post-adjustment x-rays. They do that to verify that the adjustment worked to correct the misalignment. After that appointment Marcel drove me home and I didn't do anything but sleep and rest for the whole day. The adjustment really affected my entire body even though it was only a sound wave. When your atlas is adjusted everything else will fall into place, which is what I'm feeling. Wearing a neck brace so that I don't turn my head or make any quick movements. Overall I feel like crap.

My dad came over with some new paperwork for the attorney. We ordered in Chinese food and filled out the paperwork.

This morning I was able to pick up a rental car. Got a new cute little black Jetta! I love it. Very smooth ride, but I wish it was neon yellow instead of black.

So here I go again... on another new venture for health and wellness. To think that I was almost there from my last accident in March. My poor body and car!!!

Also, I dropped out of T'appy Holidays. I can't workout right now and body brushing is difficult to manage. The only thing I can focus on is eating a healthy breakfast, taking my supplements, drinking water and eating lots of veggies.

Back at work for most of the day... wish me luck.

P.S. The elderly woman was fine and was able to get a ride home from the tow truck driver.

On the Town: Ybor City

Have to say that I totally blew my T'appy Holidays workouts this week. BUT I am feeling SO much better now that this cold is almost completely done. The weather warmed up considerably today... from the 50s yesterday to the 70s-80s today. Maybe that's also why I'm feeling better. It's sunny out!

Today's Workout:

Primary Back Stretch, Hoe Downs, Walking and Body Brushing

Today's Food Log:

3:30pm: coffee with Silk French Vanilla creamer, Bacon Egg and Cheese on 12 Grain English Muffin

6:30pm: Bahama Breeze leftovers for lunch (Jerk Chicken Pasta, a few Firecracker Shrimp) and salad

7:15pm: some Sour Patch kids

9:45pm: Starbucks iced grande nonfat vanilla latte

We decided to go to Ybor City and hang out for the night while showing Dan around town.

First stop was I ♥ New York Pizza...

10:20-12:00pm: Budweiser Beer, Blue Moon

Next stop was an Irish pub... where we ran into another guy with a mohawk and listened to live Irish music.

And then the last stop of the evening was The Castle...

When we got home I was starving... so I made some brekkie for dinner.

2:30am: egg and cheese with spinach on Ezekiel toast

Today's Supplements:

Alfalfa: 3 caps
Jus: 1 ounce
Priority Women's Complete Multi: 3 caps

Ah, It's Friday

It's coooold outside for Florida... in the 50s. I'm wearing jeans, boots and long sleeves. Don't get to do that very often around here.

No real plans for Friday night, except that Marcel's friend Dan is flying in from New York and crashing at our place. Maybe we'll get to go out to dinner!

Today's Workout:

Primary Back Stretch, Hoe Downs, Walking and Body Brushing

By the time I got home there was no time left to do an actual workout. Need to get back into my morning workout routine to make it happen again.

Today's Food Log:

8:40am: Starbucks Grande Nonfat White Chocolate Mocha Latte

10:50am: Ezekiel toast with natural PB and sliced banana

We forwarded the office calls and went out to lunch at Applebee's down the street. Sometimes it's great to get out of the office for a quick lunch. You come back feeling refreshed, not stressed.

12:50pm: Applebee's garden salad with ranch, bacon and cheddar burger with fries (ate 1/2 of the burger and shared the fries)

2:45pm: chocolate chip cookie bar (thanks, Jen!)

Marcel picked up Dan from the airport and they got beer on the way home. I drank 2 Shock Tops.

Then we walked over to Bahama Breeze for some good eats...

They recycle their menus responsibly. Love that.

10:00pm: Blue Moon beer, Firecracker shrimp, 1 onion ring, Breeze Salad, a little Jerk Chicken Pasta

Mmm... Firecracker Shrimp!

1 Onion Ring

Jerk Chicken Pasta

Dan with our huge pile of to-go boxes.

It's Bahama Breeze policy for the waiters to draw pictures (of sunsets or waves or something) on the to-go boxes. We love it when they do that, but our waiter didn't want to because (and I quote his words) "he sucks". He ending up drawing on ONE of our boxes though...

Haha... gotta love it!

Today's Supplements:

Alfalfa: 6 caps
Emergen-C: 2 packets
Jus: 1 ounce
Priority Women's Complete Multi: 6 caps
Wobenzym: 18 tablets

No More Slideshows :(

Well, seems like the photo slideshows aren't that likable after all. I love them, but overall I'm not getting good feedback. So I'm returning to posting regular food photos...

Today's Workout:

Primary Back Stretch, Triceps Curls, Hoe Downs and Body Brushing

I went to the Head Start Pinellas workout with Teresa to spot form... and squeezed in a few exercises (Triceps Curls and Hoe Downs) while I was there.

Again, I'm still feeling under the weather (and it's nasty outside too). Maybe a workout would boost my mood and my body, but I'm just not up for it today.

Today's Food Log:

8:30am: Green Monster (2 cups spinach, 1 cup original Almond Breeze, 1 frozen banana, 1 Tbsp organic flax, 1 Tbsp organic PB)

12:00pm: Tai Pei Garlic Shrimp (frozen food container)

6:15pm: leftover Creamy Mac and Cheese, saltine crackers to snack on, huge salad (mixed greens, cucumber, carrot, garlic, scallions)

8:55pm: homemade hot chocolate with original Almond Breeze (not as good as when I made it with organic milk)

Today's Supplements:

Alfalfa: 3 caps
Jus: 1 ounce
Priority Women's Complete Multi: 6 caps
Wobenzym: 18 tablets

Bonne nuit mes amis!

Wishing...

This morning I did not want to get out of bed, so I slept for another hour (7-8am). Then made some fresh coffee, got ready and started the morning commute. It's so gray and foggy out these days. Wishing the skies would clear up and the sun would shine brilliantly.

I have my appointments today... and really need them. My body is a painful mess. Scheduled my massage first... and will get ultra sound on my jaw and an adjustment after. The chiropractor is going to try a different way of adjusting my neck since it's so been painful for me these past few times. If that doesn't work, then I'm going to start seeing Dr. Pierce at the Advanced Orthogonal Chiropractic in St. Pete. Ultimately, I will end up there anyway. Just a matter of time... and money. Everyone in my office goes there and loves it. Not sure if they would accept a letter of protection for my treatment or not. After today's appointment I'll find out.

Still do not have enough energy to do anything and wanted to take it easy after my adjustment. She did try something new -- to adjust the atlas by holding these two things on either side of it. My neck wasn't painful, but I'm not sure how much good it really did either.

Today's Workout:

Primary Back Stretch and Body Brushing

Today's Food Log:

I have little appetite today (and yesterday now that I'm thinking about it). Wonder what that means? I almost have to force myself to eat.
